Sad/gold eyes

This painting was to have a color theme and show emotion. The emotion was there is always inner good or good or joy in something. That's why her eyes are gold.

In this drawing I captured a chill setting of me laying down in my room. What I struggled most with doing this piece is pushing those values like I’m supposed to. One obvious place I was struggling on were the sheets. Or any fabrics in the picture. Also when it comes to lightly shadowing walls and showing were highlights are dominate. Is there any particular technique I can try to pick up on and break myself out of my comfort zone?
