Observational drawing

Image
In this drawing I captured a chill setting of me laying down in my room. What I struggled most with doing this piece is pushing those values like I’m supposed to. One obvious place I was struggling on were the sheets. Or any fabrics in the picture. Also when it comes to lightly shadowing walls and showing were highlights are dominate. Is there any particular technique I can try to pick up on and break myself out of my comfort zone?

Night Scene

I did this piece to challenge myself with colored pencils  and oil pastels . I still have much work to do. I used about 8 different references for this picture but it still went in a different direction. I'm not really impressed with the oil pastel work, the background, but I like the body which is done in colored pencils.

Afrocentric

Image
This following piece I did was a take on me finding my style and test on color.I went to give off the classic afrocentric vibe with this piece by doing a black girl with two puffs and and small tribal designs on the face. You see other small faces around the painting resembling the tears once shed by ancestors. The colors blue and green are in the back to resemble unity. I chose earth tons for that reasoning.

/. , King spiff is a contemporary new school social media artist. His work has caught my attention for the last 4 years now. I would say be has a huge impact on my style. His concepts and color  usage behind all his work is amazing. This work has a black female with strong facial features. White earrings and a nose piercing. She has a buz cut. In this picture here head is opening showing a  rubric cube. Also a red background.
