This following piece I did was a take on me finding my style and test on color.I went to give off the classic afrocentric vibe with this piece by doing a black girl with two puffs and and small tribal designs on the face. You see other small faces around the painting resembling the tears once shed by ancestors. The colors blue and green are in the back to resemble unity. I chose earth tons for that reasoning.
I like the contrast of things. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI really like this piece, and how you have created a distinctive style for all of your paintings.
ReplyDeleteI like the style and concept behind this piece, good job
ReplyDeleteI love that I can see traits from you, or at least your personality in each of your pieces. Your style is very distinguishable and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour style seems very abstract and I think that's cool. I like how you always incorporate the tribal designs into your paintings.
ReplyDeleteI like the use of the white outlines on the black background and I like how you painted the in somethings, and left some of them with just the outline.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of bland but i like the idea and the designs that you used like all those different faces.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors used and what it resembles. It's very cool and abstract.
ReplyDeleteThe white of the tribal designs really makes them pop from the girls face and the texture of her hair is nicely done. The different weights of lines used really distinguishes this painting too.
ReplyDeleteI like the background and the faces.
ReplyDeleteI like what you are working on and exploring. I think it is still in the beginning phases. Don't limit yourself to opaque paint layers. If some of the work was transparent or if you included collage I feel the work would not be so heavy visually. I like the references to tribal African imagery and think you should do more research on this. Look at tribal masks, African masks and fabric patterns Adinkra or Kente cloth. Some artists you could look at who may influence your work are Mickalene Thomas, Fahamu Pecou, Kevin Cole, Ronald Lockett, and Romare Bearden.
ReplyDeleteBest way to sum up your style of art.
ReplyDeleteT really like the tribal designs you did! Maybe look up references though, so you can find even more beautiful designs to do.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of this piece. Keep it up!
