Night Scene

I did this piece to challenge myself with colored pencils  and oil pastels . I still have much work to do. I used about 8 different references for this picture but it still went in a different direction. I'm not really impressed with the oil pastel work, the background, but I like the body which is done in colored pencils.

    I really like that you challenged yourself using uncommon materials for you. For challenging yourself this actually looks really good with vibrant colors.

    I like the overall thing, I would only go back in and add some highlights on the legs, also maybe some reflection on the water. Other than that, it looks good.

    I like how you blended the colors it looks really nice. But I think if you cleaned up the background a bit more and added detail i will look nicer.

In this drawing I captured a chill setting of me laying down in my room. What I struggled most with doing this piece is pushing those values like I’m supposed to. One obvious place I was struggling on were the sheets. Or any fabrics in the picture. Also when it comes to lightly shadowing walls and showing were highlights are dominate. Is there any particular technique I can try to pick up on and break myself out of my comfort zone?
